The main conflict in The Dead Girls of Hysteria Hall is when they found out that the "house" that Aunt Cordelia inherited to Cordelia(Delia) was a mental hospital before. The problem started when the family of Cordelia found out that their aunt passed away because she took many pills.(suicide) "She swallowed a bunch of pills and went for a walk along the highway." (14) The problem is personal because her great great aunt died and they believe her house is haunted. Cordelia doesn't want to stay in the house. She wants to leave because she is scared about what they are saying about her and the house. Cordelia and her family were planning to stay in the house for the summer but now Cordelia is scared of doing so. "And look what happened to her!" I said. "Exactly, I'm not staying." (19) Cordelia's father convinces her to stay because it's her house and now she's going to confront it.

They say the place is haunted, "We couldn't even see it online," I said. " The satellite image was all cloudy."(7) Cordelia changes throughout the story because she first was really happy to see the house her aunt left her. Throughout the story she became more cautious of her surroundings and what happened in her house. She went back to see the letters that her aunt wrote to her and see if there was anything strange about them. "I still have her letters. And I'm not being melodramatic. Did she leave a note?"(14)

The play is not fake but they think it's fake. The conflict is external because they are going to fight Olaf. Also internal because they are scared that something could happen to them and get separated. The conflict is personal because it would only affect them and not the rest. They can get separated and lose their fortune. The people would not get affected and nothing would change in their lives but the children it would.
